How do you know if he means it?

My boyfriend and me where talking on the phone and he just kinda sliped and told me he loved me dont get me wrong im glade he did cuz iv been wanting to tell him that i love him but do u think he ment it because he did not even think how i would react to it he just said it. plezz tell me if u think he meant it or not im a little confused.
