What is there to do in Salt Lake City?

My parents and I are considering a visit to go to the division finals of the ECHL hockey games. Our team (Las Vegas) may play for the division there, and we want to cheer our team. So what museums or other things are a good thing? Where should we stay economy but clean? What should the citizens of SLC do to encourage us we can't see the city in a few days?
